BEFORE AND AFTER PICS TO COME!
What Are Tape-In Hair Extensions?
These hair extensions have pre-taped wefts made using medical-grade adhesive. The wefts on the tape-in extensions are generally one inch in width. Tape-in hair extensions can be made using human and Remy or synthetic hair. For the most natural look and feel, 100% Remy human hair would be the best choice as the hair cuticle is in tact, the hair is usually collected from one donor, and all the cuticles are facing in the same direction (imagine shingles on a roof, we want them all laying downward, in the same direction and flat) This allows for less tangles, knots, and matting in the extensions and allows you to style the extensions more freely than with synthetic hair. You can chemically treat and heat style this type of hair, synthetic hair you can not.
Cost of Tape - In Hair Extensions?
The cost of this kind of hair extension varies according to the color, quality, and length. It also depends on how many hair extensions you will require, according to the texture and volume of your hair and the desired look. A consultation (no charge) is required and a cut to blend is included with the installation service. The client purchases the hair prior to installation (which is completely owned then by you) and a 50% deposit (non refundable) for the installation appointment is required at the time of booking.
How Are Tape-In Hair Extensions Installed?
This hair extension has a sticker-like adhesive, and a thin strip of your original hair will go in between two strips of the weft (a sandwich). The application process time varies depending on the length and volume you want. Typically I book 3 hours for this service.
Do not remove your tape-in hair extensions by yourself !!!
How Long Will The Tape-In Hair Extensions Last?
Typically tape-in hair extensions will stay for about six to eight weeks and then will need to be moved up. When I reinstall the tape-in extensions I first remove them using a mild bond remover, this is used to separate and slide the extension out. Then I will remove the old tape on the weft and fix a new one. They will then be reinstalled. The time for this service varies but I typically book 2 hours.
How To Maintain Tape -In Extensions
You can wash your tape-in extensions like you normally wash your hair. It is also possible to style them the way you want (heat or chemical if using Remy hair). But you must consider giving it a little more care to maintain its natural look and texture. While you sleep, it is better to tie your hair into a loose braid as this can avoid tugging the wefts. You can also apply a natural hair mask once a week to maintain the smooth and soft texture of the tape-in hair extensions.
Avoid tying your wet hair, and do not sleep with wet hair. Moreover, washing your hair daily is not necessary. If you use any oil, serums, or other hair products, make sure not to apply them on the tape. Just apply on your hair. Deep oil treatments, oil based hair products are NOT recommended.
Does salt water or chlorine affect the adhesive on my Tape Ins? !SUMMER TIME YAY!
Short answer yes, over time the adhesive will break down with continuous exposure to harsh chemicals. It does also affect the hair it self (as it does affect your natural hair over time), however there are a few things that will help mitigate the damage. Proper care is necessary to protect your investment.
When it comes to hair we cause damage (break down bonds within the hair) when we wash/wet, heat style (even once a year) or chemically treat (color, permanently straighten etc) so it is ALWAYS beneficial to give insurance to the hair. Style options and product choices are individual and are always discussed to ensure the health of your hair.
